September 15: An international conference on the legacy of Aurelio Peccei took place in Gorizia.
It was organized by ISIG, IFRA and FUTURIBILI in collaboration with the Fonadziona Aurelio Peccei,
the Slovenian Chapter, Croatian Chapter and European Support Centre of the Club of Rome.
Club of Rome Members Alberto Gasparini, Roberto Peccei, Orio Giarini, Ivo Slaus and tt30 Member Meir Javedanfar gave presentations at the event.

Club of Rome Anniversary Conference
Rome, June 16-17, 2008

June, 14 to 17th, 2008: The Club of Rome and the Fondazione Aurelio Peccei (Italian Chapter of the Club of Rome)
organized a conference on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the Club and the 100th Anniversary of one of its Founders,
the Italian industrialist, visionary and humanist, Aurelio Peccei.
The Club of Rome decided upon a new work programme "New Paths for World Development" and elected new members to the Executive Committee.
In the public conference on June 16-17th, the Club discussed the perspectives for a sustainable future.
The event included the 2008 Aurelio Peccei Lecture.

Aurelio Peccei Lecture 2007

May 17th, 2007: Norman Myers discussed the challenge of maintaining biodiversity. Myers was among the first scientists to
alert the global community to tropical deforestation, an impending mass extinction, and environmental security.
Norman Myers was introduced by Roberto Peccei (President of the Fondazione Aurelio Peccei). The presentation was followed
by contributions by Luigi Boitani (Direttore Dipartimento Biologia Animale e dell’Uomo
Università degli Studi La Sapienza, Roma) Gianfranco Bologna (Secretary-General of the Fondazione Aurelio Peccei) and Riccardo Valentini (Direttore Dipartimento Scienze dell'Ambiente Forestale,
Università della Tuscia, Viterbo).

Aurelio Peccei Lecture 2006
November 2nd, 2006: Nobel Prize winner Paul Crutzen discussed the "Human Influence on Climate" after an introduction by Roberto Peccei and Gianna Zappi.
The presentation was followed by a round table discussion with Piero Angela, Gianfranco Bologna, Mario Gatto, Wolfgang Sachs and Riccardo Valentini.
The 2006 Aurelio Peccei Lecture was organized by the Fondazione Aurelio Peccei in co-operation with WWF and ABI.

the topic of sustainability has become in CSR concepts. |

demonstrated that climate change is already happening and put in his lecture emphasis on the question, whether it is possible to influence the climate by the injection of sulfur compounds in the stratosphere. |

represented the media on the panel and discussed their role. |

 | | Gianfranco Bologna, Secretary General of the Fondazione Aurelio Peccei
and Scientific Director of WWF Italia emphasized that action is needed to meet the challenge of climate change. |

 | | Marino Gatto, President of the "Società Italiana di Ecologia" showed how
climate change is related to the extincion of species and shifts of habitats. |

 | | Wolfgang Sachs,
member of the Club of Rome, gave insight in the conflict which will occur if climate change proceeds. |

 | | Riccardo Valentini, president of CNR, discussed
the vulnerability of ecosystems and carbon pools. |
Aurelio Peccei Lecture 2005
November 15th, 2005: Jared Diamond, author of "The Third Chimpanzee", "Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies" and
"Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed" gave the 2005 Aurelio Peccei Lecture in Rome and presented the Italian version "Collasso".
There were introductions by Roberto Peccei and Carlo Alberto Bonadies and interventions by Piero Angela, Gianfranco Bologna, Alessandro Lanza,
Antonio Navarra and Giulio Sapelli.
Aurelio Peccei Lecture 2004
November 23rd, 2004: On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the death of Aurelio Peccei, one of the founders of the Club of Rome,
Prof. Eleonora Barbieri Masini held the 2004 Aurelio Peccei lecture in Rome.
The speech did not only demonstrate the extraordinary
way of thinking of Aurelio Peccei, it gave also a very interesting insight to the history of the Club of Rome.
The speech was later published as a booklet which is available for download.
