            FUTURE EVENTS

Ottawa: Global Governance

August 25: Fergus Watt will give a presentation, discuss global governance and outline how citizens can make a difference.

The event is organized by the Canadian Association for the Club of Rome (CACOR). Fergus Watt is national Executive Director of the World Federalists Movement – Canada, a position he has held since 1985. He has developed numerous papers, briefs to government, news articles and other publications. His work with civil society to advance global governance reforms has included participation in a range of broad-based networks, in Canada and internationally, notably, Peacebuild Canada, the International Civil Society Forum for Democracy, and the Coalition for the International Criminal Court.

Vienna: The Future of the Western Hemisphere

September 9: Anitra Thorhaug, President of the US Association for the Club of Rome, and Andrew Oerke, Member of the U.S. Association, will present the research on the Future of the Western Hemisphere at a seminar at the European Support Centre in Vienna.

Space is restricted, registration via e-mail (agenda@clubofrome.at) by September 3rd is mandatory for participation. Please find more information in the seminar flyer for download.

Liechtenstein: Secretary-General Opens Congress

September 15: Ian Johnson, Secretary-General of the Club of Rome, and Ernst Ulrich von Weizsaecker, Member of the Club of Rome, will give opening addresses at the Liechtenstein Congress on Sustainable Development and Responsible Investing.

Wolfsburg: Club of Rome Schools Event

September 21-23: The Club of Rome schools will meet in Wolfsburg for their Annual Conference.

The schools will present their projects and discuss further cooperation. In addition to the internal meeting, a public conference about the DESERTEC project will be held.

Brussels: Science, the Future of Climate, and Governance

Aurelio Peccei Lectures


September 29: The 73rd Aurelio Peccei Lecture and Dialogue in Brussels is held by Jean-Pascal van Ypersele with the title: Science, the Future of Climate, and Governance.

Honorary membership of the CoR-EU will be conferred on Professor van Ypersele by H.R.H. Prince Philip. The lecture and ceremony will be followed by a reception.

The lecture is organized by the EU Chapter of the Club of Rome in collaboration with the European Support Centre.
