Dear Visitor,
Dear Colleagues

Our world is facing major financial, ecological and social crises: driven by failed policies, failed economics and failed political systems. These crises are inter-connected and caused by common drivers. The Club of Rome has embarked on a revitalized work programme that provides strong underpinnings for how to deal with these issues. As we face a new era in which we are likely to see rapid growth in the world's population as well as in the world's economy we will place extraordinary pressures on our social, natural and man-made capital and we will need to seek new and imaginative solutions if we are to manage those pressures in a responsible manner. I am sure we all believe that with rigorous analysis, sound and well conceived solutions, and political will, we can make a difference.

This year's Annual General Meeting was the first to be held in Winterthur, Switzerland, and provided an opportunity for us to discuss and debate the nature and content of the issues we face and the solutions we seek.

Our conference opened on October 27th in Liechtenstein, with a public seminar that focused on economic and financial changes in the world and their impacts. A public workshop day (October 28th) in Winterthur offered a discussion on the need to bring global issues to the frontline of local solutions, and discussed how local solutions can be scaled up to make a difference. We are proud of having been able to cooperate with regional partners of high reputation, for each of these conference modules.
